Deceptive Public Figures
Should public figures that spread fake news be banned from social media? Social media enables the spread of fake news by public figures. In order to manipulate the people, public figures can spread fake news utilizing social media. People, who believe these fake news, remain in a negative situation. Public Figures should be banned from social media as public figures who distribute false information bring about political unrest, vandalism, and a decline in the credibility of the media
Initially, public figures that spread fake news cause political unrest. Public figures give rise to political upheaval. For example, in order to gain popularity, they use fake news about political issues and bolster the tension. This effort causes political unrest. Actors that use fake news as a political weapon are aware of those they are trying to influence, as they try to manipulate the audience into believing something they would not normally believe (Cherry, 2019). These fake news about political unrest are risky for people. Ignorant and irresolute people are suitable to be deceived by fake news. Therefore, Public figures that spread fake news should be removed from social media.
In addition, Public figures bring out vandalism by making fake news. Public figures stir up vandalism about ethnic bullying and discrimination of people with differences. For example, in America, black people are exposed to unacceptable behaviors. Because of public figures, these ethnicity bullying is getting worse statistically (Hinduja, 2021). Also, on social media, there are a lot of situations that discriminate against a person with disabilities. For example, Jack Nelson, a 10-year-old with cystic fibrosis, won’t be allowed on social media until he’s older and can understand the hateful comments that may be directed at him, his mother, Tasha Nelson, said (Goldstein, 2021). Public figures negatively influence different ethnicity of people as well as a person with disabilities. Therefore, they should be banned from social media.
Eventually, Public figures damage the credibility of the media. Public figures that spread fake news cause a decline in the credibility of the media. For instance, traditional media and reliable social media news. However, there are some people who advocate fake news as a tool for detecting reliable sources. For example, Globally, 76% of people acknowledged worries about weaponizing false information or fake news. But social media platforms have contributed to detecting true ones. (DiSilvestro, 2022). However, be that as it may, fake news spreading by public figures is harmful. Therefore, despite the fact that public figures that spread fake news helpful tools for finding reliable sources, they should be banned from social media unprivileged.
In conclusion, Because social media enable to spread of fake news by public figures, people are damaged. Public figures who disseminate false information lead to political instability, vandalism, and a deterioration in the credibility of the media. Because of these actions, people can wear off both physically and emotionally. Public figures are not innocent, they are manipulators and selfish people. Therefore, public figures should be banned from social media.
